Desserts of gold for the big night

When you have heavy-weight A-Listers such as Angelina Jolie and Steven Spielberg attending an awards night, you want to impress them, right? So how about throwing gold flakes as a sprinkle on your dessert? As decadent as it sounds, that is what the stars will be treated to at the Golden Globe awards.

The dessert, a creation of pastry chef Thomas Henzi, is a chocolate almond crunch terrine with acacia honey, caramel and fresh berries. According to Reuters, the chocolate being used is from Switzerland, the honey and caramel from France, the Tarragon hazelnuts from Italy and the Valencia almond paste from Spain. To top it off, each plate will be drizzled with 23 carat edible gold fakes. Now that must be a rich dessert, and we don't mean in taste only.
